This summer, Levi’s® by Amsterdam-based Atelier Reservé launches an exclusive, fresh collection of limited-edition, redefined classics. Under the name Handmade, this collection – which consists of redefined Levi’s® classics such as a white Levi’s 501® and an ecru chore coat – brings an ode to the Japanese art of perfect imperfection and celebrates craftmanship, quality materials and timeless garments.

From a porcelain cup that’s glued back together to a pair of reconstructed jeans; there’s beauty in imperfection and in everything that’s repaired with love. This Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi perfectly aligns with the new limited-edition Levi’s® collection by Amsterdam-based brand Atelier Reservé. There’s only one you, so why dress like everyone else? This summer, Levi’s® by Atelier Reservé launches an exclusive collection of limited-edition, redefined classics. And who better to show the beauty of uniqueness than fashion model Gia, a true original who plays by her own rules.

Singular beauty

To bring the collection to life, Dutch-Surinamese model and rising star Gia joins the campaign to bring her singular beauty, bold confidence, and unique style. The ultimate inspiration that you can be, do and wear anything you want.

Captured in Paris’ creative district of Le Marais, a favorite inspiration destination of the Atelier Reservé team, Gia shows how you can style and combine the one-of-a-kind garments from buttoned-down and fitted to buttoned-up and oversized. Sizes for this gender-inclusive collection range from 28-36 waist and 32 length for jeans and S-XL for the tops.

Perfect imperfections

Since the start of their brand in 2016, visual artist Alljan Moehamad and designer Deyrinio Fraenk have been using old stock and vintage Levi’s® to create new garments in their distinctive style, with Japanese references and tattoo art-style typography. That’s why a collaborating with Levi’s® makes perfect sense for the brand, says Moehamad.

“There’s just something about the quality of the fabrics and design that make Levi’s® garments ideal for us to use. They have a durability and natural aging process that we love and need. In comparison, we could never do what we do with used fast-fashion products of poor quality.”For this Handmade collection, the design team playfully added patches of existing and deadstock fabrics to white 501s®, stonewashed trucker jackets, ecru chore coats and classic white tees.

They also deliberately placed paint spots on the garments, which is a nod to the handmade production process used in the clothing industry. “People often don’t realize that all clothing is still made by humans,” Fraenk explains. “It’s not a matter of just pressing a button on a machine. Errors occur and that’s okay; the imperfections make it interesting.”

About Atelier Reservé

Atelier Reservé is an Amsterdam-based niche brand that has been creating one-of-a-kind garments since 2016. The two ‘Reserveboys’ behind the brand, visual artist Alljan Moehamad & designer Deyrinio Fraenk, are focused on bringing old stock fabrics, used materials and vintage garments back to life. Redesigning and reinventing a combination of old and new blended in a unique garment with strong Japanese references.

Without explicitly highlighting its sustainable and organic nature, Atelier Reservé gives an authentic touch to quality garments that naturally occurs as a result of day-to-day wear and tear. For Atelier Reservé, ‘one-of-a-kind’ means each garment has its own story with its own unique shape. Colours will vary, style will stay.
