In the 1950s and ’60s, teensploitation movies sensationalized the angst of America’s youth. That generation’s love for rock ‘n’ roll and their struggle for independence fueled plot lines portraying them as rebels beyond reform. If the movies were excessive, the trailers and posters were completely over the top, luring teens (and trembling adults) to grindhouses and drive-ins for a glimpse at these untamed youth. The films never quite delivered on the hype, but their lurid promise continued to attract an audience.
For Fall/Winter 2021, Levi’s® Vintage Clothing celebrates the cheap thrills of these low- budget films—and posters—that have since become cult classics of Hollywood cinema. We take their vivid color and stylized imagery and pour them into a collection of vintage reproductions: ’50s-era Trucker Jackets and jeans, letter jackets, satin bombers and geo-print sweaters. There’s even an embroidered crying cat.
EACH SEASON, OUR TEAM FAITHFULLY REPRODUCES RARE HISTORICAL PIECES FROM THE 20,000 ITEMS IN LEVI’S® ARCHIVES.
EVERYTHING IS HYPER-REAL, AS IF THE MOVIE POSTERS HAD COME TO LIFE.
